Pickle-Chiffon Pie by Jolly Roger Bradfield
I heard Pickle-Chiffon Pie for the first time at a friends’ house in 2014. She was hosting story time. I still remember where I was sitting in her living room and I remember how swept-away I felt while she read this story. It has become a favorite in our home.
Pickle Chiffon Pie Plot:
This story is about a king who is very happy, but he has a problem. Every night he has to share his yummy pickle-chiffon pie with the princes who wish to marry his daughter.
The king decides it is time for his daughter to marry. He sends three princes on a quest into the forest to bring back “The Most Wonderful” thing. The winner will marry the princess.
The first prince enters the forest…
“At first he didn’t see anything unusual… just a few small dragons, a troll peeking out of a tree, a medium-sized giant- the usual things one sees in a forest.”
Why you should read Pickle-Chiffon Pie:
The princes encounter many fun and unique creatures on their adventures. Pickle-Chiffon Pie reads like a captivating fairy-tale.
Pickle-Chiffon Pie also includes a beautiful reminder on the importance of kindness.
If you haven’t read this book yet, give it a try! I really think you will like it!
