“Don’t judge a book by its cover.”

I have heard the saying “don’t judge a book by its cover” as a kid and I have said it many times as a mom. I know you should not judge a book by its cover. I know it is true… and yet, I still did it.

I have passed on reading The Perfect Present by Fiona Roberton multiple times. It just did not look appealing to me. Finally, it ended up in a pile of books at our house and slipped into the bedtime story stack.

Why did I wait so long? What an amazing book!

I went right along with Spot on his emotional journey. I could relate to the feeling of buying “the perfect present” only to feel outdone by another present. I have also felt nervous about losing a close friend when a new person comes along and joins the friendship.

In addition to being full of real emotion, the story includes a fun rescue adventure.

Fiona Roberton’s illustrations are cute, unique and tender. She masterfully addresses both of Spot’s concerns and leaves the reader with comforting resolve.

Don’t make my same mistake! Read The Perfect Present by Fiona Roberton.
