August 5th is National Underwear Day. We checked 15 underwear picture books from the library to celebrate. My youngest ended up loving ALL of them. Hahaha. Here are my top five picks:

Vegetables in Underwear by Jared Chapman is full of simple, silly veggies celebrating underwear. It gives a cute nod to underwear being for big kids and diapers for babies without being preachy. This book will have kids and adults giggling.

Aliens Love Underpants by Claire Freedman. Claire has written over 100 books, this is my favorite of her Underpants Books. Aliens in Underpants humorously explains in rhyme that the real reason aliens visit Earth is to steal underpants.

Polar Bear’s Underwear by Tupera Tupera. In this story, mouse is trying to help Polar Bear find his underwear. Every other page provides a peek-through to the next page and a hint of a humorous animal in colorful underpants. Younger kids especially will be delighted with this book.

Underwear! by Jenn Harney. A slippery, silly baby bear just got out of the bath. Papa bear would like baby to put on his underwear, but baby is full of jokes and other ideas of what he should do with his underwear.

Creepy Pair of Underwear by Aaron Reynolds. I know I have fully spotlighted this book before, but I couldn’t leave it off this list. I LOVE this book! Jasper Rabbit needs new underwear. His mom wants to get him boring, white underwear. Jasper finds underwear that are much more exciting. After Jasper puts on his glowing, new underwear, he starts to rethink his purchase decision.
